The heavy bag is one of the most important training tools for an individual involved in boxing or martial arts. Training at home can help you hone your craft. If you have a couple basic tools an Everlast Punching bag can be permanently installed in a short time. Properly installing your punching bag is extremely important as improper installation can lead to structural damage to your home or possibly even bodily injury.

Step 1

Locate a position for your heavy bag to be installed. Find a spot where you will have 10-foot by 10-foot clearance so that you are able to work around the bag as well as have enough space for the bag to swing freely. Use the step ladder and the stud finder to find a stud near the location you have chosen. Hold the bracket in the exact spot and mark the holes where you will drill.

Step 2

Attach the 1/4-inch drill bit to the power drill. Hold the drill firmly and drill through the locations you have marked. Be sure to that the drill is perfectly vertical as you drill. If you feel no resistance as you drill, pick another location you are likely not on a stud.

Step 3

Use the socket wrench to install bolts into holes you have drilled. Hold the bracket flat against the ceiling as you install the first bolt half way. Screw the second bolt in half way to make sure the installation is going correctly. Finish screwing both bolts into the ceiling.

Step 4

Attach the hanging chains to the D rings on the heavy bag with the S hooks. Use the socket wrench to hold the mounting bolt and remove the nut with your adjustable wrench. Support the heavy bag with the step ladder as you place the O ring of the heavy bag hanging chains in the middle of the bracket. Replace the mounting bolt and tighten to secure bag.
