Slendertone uses EMS or electronic muscle stimulation to send electrical currents through the skin to contract the abdominal muscles. Although the Slendertone System for Abs may help the muscles contract, you'll need to adjust your diet and make time for cardio exercise to improve the appearance of your abs. Wait at least six weeks after a vaginal birth and three months for a C-section before using the device. If you have an IUD, you need to wait one month after fitting before use. Consult your doctor if you have any questions about when it is safe to use the device.
Step 1
Wrap the Slendertone System for Abs belt around your waist. The electrode pads should be facing your skin. Position the largest electrode pad over your belly button. The small pads should be centered between your hips and ribs on each side of your body.

Step 2
Fasten the belt to the rear of the body. Press and hold down the "On" button for two seconds to turn on the belt.
Step 3
Adjust the intensity by using the up and down arrow keys on the control panel. When you feel your ab muscles contract, stop at that intensity level. You may feel a slight tickle as the muscles contract. The manufacturer recommends a minimum intensity level of 15 for your first session. You may increase the intensity level at any time during your session.
Step 4
Wait for your session with the Slendertone System for Abs to end. The device automatically shuts off after 30 minutes. For optimal results, you are recommended by the manufacturer to use the Slendertone System for Abs five days a week for 30 minutes.
Tip
Keep in mind that you will not get perfect abs through regular use of the Slendertone System for Abs. According to the FDA, “No electronic muscle stimulation device has been cleared for weight loss, girth reduction, or for obtaining rock hard abs.”
Before you purchase the Slendertone System for Abs, you need to know your waist size. Belt sizes for women range from 24 to 44 inches.
Warning
Do not use the Slendertone System for Abs on days when you have heavy menstrual bleeding.
Do not use if you are pregnant or trying to conceive. Avoid use if you have any type of electronic or abdominal implant.
